What Is a Tier 4 Diesel Engine?
A Tier 4 Diesel Engine is a diesel engine that meets the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Tier 4 diesel engine requirements.
The Tier 4 diesel engine requirements are currently the strictest standards that diesel engines are held to. The Tier 4 regulations began to be phased in starting in 2008, and they were not fully implemented until 2015.
The purpose of the EPA’s Tier 4 diesel engine requirements is to limit the amount of particulate matter (more commonly referred to as black soot) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) released from diesel engines into the atmosphere.
The Tier 4 regulations have exceeded expectations. They have reduced the amount of black soot and NOx levels by 99% since 1996.
Types of Diesel Engines from Yanmar
Yanmar manufactures two major types of diesel engines… water-cooled and air-cooled. Both of these engine-types have their own advantages and are catered to particular applications. It all depends on what you need them for.
Water-Cooled Diesel Engines
